An Update On Things

So as of late, I haven’t been very active when it comes to the Waffloid Server, my YouTube channel, or even Twitter. This is mainly because I haven’t been motivated to work on stuff such as recording new videos. The server seems to be fine on its own (special thanks to the mods) and there is still no 1.8 compatible build of Spigot out so we can’t update to 1.8 after over a month from its release.

When it comes to recording sessions I can be overly critical of the session after recording it. This is especially true when it comes to SpaceCraft, which is one reason why it seems to be dead at the moment. Lately I just haven’t had much interest in playing Minecraft survival, so I would rather not upload it than force myself to play it and have my commentary be affected by playing when I don’t want to. Same goes for pretty much anything else I’ve tried recording in the past 2-3 weeks, although series like Simburbia and Spore don’t have as high of a standard when it comes to recording as SpaceCraft does. Yesterday I recorded about an hour of Simburbia and after I finished recording I immediately knew the session was no good. I have been doing YouTube video game commentaries for almost 4 years, so I have a lot of experience to spot when something is off par. Thankfully I make backups of my worlds before recording so I can always re-record a session. 9 times out of 10 the same things that happen in the original recording don’t happen again in the re-recording, so that’s always a plus for authenticity.

I just feel like I need to take somewhat of a short break from YouTube, just to clear my head and to regain motivation for doing what I love. I still have quite a bit of Spore footage I can edit to cover for the next few days, but after that there may be a few days with no videos, so this should explain that. Also in recent weeks if I haven’t uploaded on some days, it’s thanks to my terrible sleep schedule which sometimes gets fixed and sometimes goes right back to being terrible lol.

TL;DR: Been feeling unmotivated to record videos and such for the past few weeks. Need to take a break from YouTube for a week or so to clear my head and regain motivation to bring you guys more awesome videos without them feeling forced and not genuine.

Edit: I may not have logged on to the server in a long time, but I still check the server console and live map every now and then just to see if anything may warrant me logging on to the server.

We can’t update the server anyway since the latest build of Spigot supports the 1.8 client but actually runs on 1.7.10. That means we won’t get all the cool new stuff in 1.8 because it’s actually running 1.7.10 but also supports clients using 1.8. The reason the server isn’t running that build is because it breaks a few plugins last time I tested it so until there’s a good stable build of that right now, you won’t be able to log in to the server while running 1.8.

Nice to hear from you Waffle. I was hoping you where alright since the not being active on the server, youtube and the twitter. Hope you get that inspiration again. I know how it feels to lose it and to try to get it back. A break does good. I respect your decisions.

Thanks, if I’m uploading on my YouTube channel that means I’m not dead since I usually upload videos the day they get published or 1 day in advance at most. So that’s one way of seeing if I’m dead or not lol

I know the sleep pattern thing when in school holidays I’m waking up at like 3pm lol but luckily having no choice but to get up at 7am and go to school fixes that. Things do get boring if you do the same thing over again I suppose. I’m gonna be back around November time and hopefully we can all have a good time on the server over the christmas period. (Thinks az’s donation covered to like January). Basically stalling for the spigot 1.8 update then I will be a lot more active I hope. Since I suffer from chronic anxiety being away from the things I usually do make me feel like someone has does or something , pretty weird tbh seeming the waffloid community is really great to be a part of. I really don’t know I’m talking about things that no one needs to know about knowing none of is know each
Other in real life (well, some ) hopefully we will be as enthusiastic as ever after a good break from it all

Yeah I don’t always record, but instead I go through these “recording phases” as I call them where I’m just in the mood to record some stuff (Minecraft, Spore, Pokemon etc.) and I end up with a few hours worth of footage that can be cut up and uploaded for a week or two. So I’m not constantly recording or anything, but I have been doing this for almost 4 years so doing something like this for that long can definitely be classified as repetitive.

Also, speaking of Pokemon, I still have footage of that I could upload but it doesn’t generally get as many views as other series such as Spore so I’ll likely be uploading those when I run out of Spore footage just to keep the channel fresh.
